Experience
I have two years' experience tutoring and I love helping students find ways to succeed in their studies. I am a PhD student in theological ethics, though I also have an undergraduate degree in psychology. My background in psych helps me understand the ways in which we learn best, as my own experience as a student gives me insight into the process of learning and compassion for those in that process. I have good faculty with test prep and a special knack for writing. My approach is similar to that of counselors: my goal is to work myself out of a job. By that, I mean that my style is to help students learn how to learn, not just how to pass the material. For instance, we will talk about how to improve a piece of writing; but we'll also talk about what questions you should ask when approaching the writing or editing process. I am available on the south shore of Long Island or in the city!
